Chao Xiaohong
Professor Chao is an expert in Chinese social-economic history in late imperial China with an emphasis on the regional history of Shaanxi. He received his M.A. in History from Shaanxi Teacher’s University. His Ph.D., also in history, was from the History Department, Xiamen University, where he is now an Associate Professor and the director of the China Social-Economic History Section. At Harvard, his research focused on the commercial history of China’s Ming and Qing dynasties.
Ni Yuping
Ni Yuping is Associate Professor in the School of History, Beijing Normal University. Professor Ni’s research focuses on Chinese economic history, especially the history of finance during the Qing Dynasty. His publications include The Sea Transport of Tribute Grain and Social Transformation in the Qing Dynasty (Shanghai Bookstore Publishing House, 2005) and Research on the Customs Duties in the Jiaqing and Daoguang Times of the Qing Dynasty (Beijing Normal University Press, 2010).
