The Harvard-Yenching Institute and Regional Studies-East Asia Program
This program allows departments in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University to identify and nominate appropriate applicants in the field of Asian Studies for the MA program in Regional Studies-East Asia and Ph.D. programs. Nominees must be from Asia (US citizens or permanent residents are not eligible). The program is for individuals who are not directly admitted to a doctoral program, but are judged to be potentially competitive for admission to a doctoral program after completing a MA degree under faculty supervision.
Upon successful application to the Harvard-Yenching Institute and the RSEA, students will be granted a two-year fellowship from the Harvard-Yenching Institute to complete their MA degree. If successfully admitted to a doctoral program at Harvard or other appropriate university upon completion of the MA, one year of additional fellowship support will be provided toward completion of the doctoral degree.
