Our visiting scholar programs have a common theme--grants enabling Asian scholars in the humanities and social sciences to do research or pursue a Ph.D. All grants are competitive and the Institute is responsible for the selection process. In the past fifty years, more than a thousand Asian scholars have been awarded these grants and have gone on to constitute a strong core of scholarship in the humanities at our Asian partner institutions.
