BIAN, He

Bian He's research focuses on the history of medicine and society in East Asia, 1600-1900. Bian's dissertation will focus on the history of pharmacy and pharmacology in late imperial China, especially the social process of how medicines were collected, put into market, turned into consumable forms, and administered during the practice of healers.

Research interests: History of medicine in East Asia, especially China and Japan; Transformation of body views in 19th - 20th century and its social/cultural implications.
