Comparative Literature Program

Chen Xi is currently a Ph. D candidate in the Comparative Literature Program, College of Literature, Wuhan University, China. Her recent academic interests include Chinese poetry, poetics from the perspective of Western philosophy of language, the relationship between memory and literary imagination, and performance in the literary narrative. During her academic year at Harvard, she will continue to focus on these topics and also hopes to expand her study and research to new fields. In addition, please feel free to contact and communicate with her if you have enthusiasm for drama, movies, and dance.

DAI Xuetian is a Ph. D. candidate in Comparative Literature and World Literature at Peking University, China. His research interests include cross cultural study and African/American Literature.

Liang Chongyi received her B.A in Chinese literature from Yuanpei College, Peking University. Presently she is an M.A candidate at the Institute of World Literature, Peking University, majoring in eco-literature and eco-criticism. She enjoys writing and has published works in various websites, newspapers and magazines and was the founder and chief editor of Xinbao (昕报). At Harvard, Liang will finish her research on reading Beat Poetry from an ecological standpoint. In addition, her collected stories, In Dread of Returning Late (意恐36831;迟归), will be published in October, 2009.

LIANG Dandan is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Chinese Literature, Fudan University, China. She will be working on classical Chinese poetry in English and Western Classics. Her research interests include intercultural hermeneutics and translation studies, especially the art of creative understanding through cross-cultural contact.

Yang Baoli is a master's degree candidate majoring in comparative literature and world literature in the Department of Chinese Literature and Language, Beijing Normal University, China. Her research interests include poetry, literary theory and folklore. At the Harvard-Yenching Institute, she will work on a project titled 'The Labyrinth of Identities: Comparison between Translation of English Poems and Chinese Original Poems in the Early 20th Century'.
