GONG Yongmei received her BA from the Department of Philosophy, East China Normal University in 1990 and MA from the Institute of Philosophy, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences in 1993. She joined the Department of Social Sciences in 1993 and went to the University of Victoria, Canada as a visiting scholar from 1997-1998. She started her Ph. D. program in the Department of History at ECNU in 1999 and has worked for the Center for China Studies Overseas Research since then. Her PhD dissertation focuses on Philip A. Kuhn and his research on modern Chinese history. She is also interested in the history of American sinology and Canadian sinology and other American sinologists.
