SUMMARY:East Asian Media Studies Conference

 he East Asian Media Studies Conference is made possible with the generous 
 support of the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations\, Harv
 ard Asia Center\, the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies\, the Fair
 bank Center for Chinese Studies\, the Harvard Yenching Institute\, and t
 he Korea Institute.\n\n\n	The East Asian Media Studies Conference will pre
 sent a snapshot of a young and still-forming field of inquiry. It will pro
 vide a space for discussing the question of field formation and the interv
 entions that such work allows for. In this respect\, the conference is ass
 ociated with the asia-theory-visuality conference held in Princeton in Nov
 ember 2015. We are hoping to create a space that breaks down the divide be
 tween presenters and the audience\, and engages everyone in the process of
  actively reflecting on the evolution of the field. Texts associated with 
 the keynote will be precirculated so that the keynote addresses can serve 
 as an opportunity for dialogue and critique\; panelists will be called on 
 to explicitly reflect on how their work relates to broader developments wi
 thin the field\; and graduate students will moderate lunchtime discussions
  on future directions in East Asian media studies.\n\n	 \n\n	For more inf
