Severin Kuok is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Literature and Culture Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India. She received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the Center for Chinese and Southeast Asian Studies at JNU and was awarded the Vimla Saran Gold Medal for the highest CGPA in M.A. in Chinese language in 2012.  Her MPhil dissertation was entitled “Chinese Diaspora of India: The Impact of 1962 and Search for Identity.” She was a member of the editorial and research team for an encyclopedia of India-China cultural contacts produced under the aegis of the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Foreign Ministry of China, which was completed in 2014. She qualified for the University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test in June 2012 and has been engaged by the CCSEAS, JNU as a guest faculty since July 2012. Severin’s paper, entitled “Chinese Diaspora in India: The Impact of 1962 and Search for Identity,” was published in the Review of Global Politics, Taiwan in 2015. Currently, she is engaged in translating a collection of short essays by one of China’s most well-known female writers, Bing Xin, from Chinese into Hindi. Severin also holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from Sri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and has a Diploma in Business Management from Auckland, New Zealand.
