Tsuyoshi Ishii is associate professor of Chinese modern philosophy at the University of Tokyo. His publications include Tai Shin to Chugoku Kindai Tetsugaku: Kangaku kara Tetsugaku e (Dai Zhen and Chinese Modern Philosophy: From Philology to Philosophy, Tokyo: Chisenshokan, 2014), and Gan Wen “Tianlai”: Zhongwen Zhexue Lunji (Asking “Heavenly Piping”: Essays on Chinese Philosophy, Tokyo: UTCP, 2013). His recent academic interests focus on reflecting upon East Asian modernity from the view of literary and philosophical trans-national mutual influence and de/re-constructive study of traditional Chinese concepts.
