Kentaro Azuma is currently an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Letters, Nagoya University, Japan. He received his B.A. from Sophia University of Japan, his M.A. from Nagoya University, and then obtained his Ph.D. from Nagoya University. His first book, Anthropology of Reality and Alterity: From the Field of Magic in a Modern Philippine Local City, based on his dissertation, was published in 2011 by Sangensha. His current research interests are the relationship among magic, religion and medicine as well as tourism in the modern and global age.
