李晨啸

As a researcher affiliated with a think tank (Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences), I am steeped in East Asia’s humanistic heritage, bridging rigorous academic research and pragmatic policy advisory practice. Rooted in historical methodology, my scholarship spans Science, Technology and Society (STS) and Asian Studies. My core research centers on the history of science and technology, with a focus on energy governance, fossil capitalism, and the Eurasian Anthropocene. I have published extensively on Japanese energy history and German-Japanese economic relations, alongside a book manuscript dedicated to chanoyu. My current inquiries pivot toward the socialist restructuring of early PRC, the geoeconomics of contemporary Chinese technoscience, and the intellectual history of modern Chinese (social) sciences. At the Harvard-Yenching Institute, I will deepen my project on the Asian Anthropocene and keep pushing forward boundary-crossing interdisciplinary research. My work features in academic journals such as Technology and Culture and Journal of Urban History, with an article forthcoming in German Studies Review.
