Yu QIU
邱昱

Yu Qiu (邱昱) is a ZJU100 Young Professor (新百人计划研究员）in social anthropology based at Zhejiang University. Her research interests span intimacy, migration, ethics, and identity politics, with a regional focus on contemporary China’s engagement with East and West Africa. She earned her BA in sociology from Tsinghua University, and MPhil and PhD in social anthropology from the University of Cambridge. Her current project at HYI investigates the moral and philanthropic dimensions of Global China, with a specific focus on the initial arrival of Chinese Buddhism in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) brought by a group of monks and volunteers from mainland China.
