Under this fellowship, he completed intensive Chinese language training at Central China Normal University, Wuhan (2023–2024), and a research year at Fudan University, Shanghai (2024–2025).

His doctoral research employs corpus linguistics and discourse analysis to investigate how leadership ideology influences cultural and educational policy formulation in contemporary China, emphasizing its role in legitimizing power through bureaucratic and governance mechanisms. He also explores comparative dimensions, examining how state-endorsed national memory shapes policy processes in both China and India.

Before starting his doctorate, Nishant earned an MA in International Studies from Christ University, Bangalore, and a BA (Honors) in Journalism and Mass Communication from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. His academic interests span political legitimacy, ideological dissemination, governance mechanisms, and the politicization of public policy
