Feng Xiaocai is Professor in the Department of History, East China Normal University. His focus is in twentieth century Chinese history, with a particular emphasis on integrating political, social and economic history. His interests include the interaction of politics and business, nationalism, political mobilization and mass movement, native identities and voluntary associations. He is the author of Merchant movement in The North Expedition, 1924-1930 (Taiwan Commercial Press, 2004) and Business is Business: The Merchants from Jiangsu and Zhejiang Province in Changing Politics (Shanghai Academy of Social Science Press, 2004).
