Huang Xiangchun is presently an Associate Professor of anthropology at Xiamen University. He received his Ph.D. in 2005. His main research areas include historical anthropology and historical ethnography of Chinese rural communities. His current research focuses on local ritual tradition and popular religion, ethnohistory and ethnicity, and oral traditions in Southeast China. He is the author of The “Floating Other” and The “Sense of History” in Sinological Anthropology (2013) and Going Beyond Pariah Status: the Boat Population of Fuzhou in the Chinese People’s Republic (2015).
