Lin Chaochao is Associate Research Fellow at the Department of History, Fudan University. She was previously an associate research fellow at the Institute of History, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. She received her Ph.D. from Fudan University in 2013. Her specialized subject is the contemporary history of China, especially the history of industrial economy and labor politics, focusing on institutional change and production mobilization of industrial enterprises, as well as the political mobilization of workers by the state and worker activism. Her major publications in Chinese include Mobilization and Efficiency: Shanghai Industries in Planned Economy Time; “New State and Old Workers: The Democratic Reform Campaign of Private Industries in Shanghai, 1952”; “Resources of Legitimacy and Chinese Workers’ Activism: Restudying Shanghai Workers’ Strike in 1957”; “Revolution on the Production Line: Labor Race in Shanghai’s Factories in 1950s”; “Soviet Economic Accounting System and China’s Planned Economy”; “China’s Labor Model System in the Perspective of Political Economics——Case Study of Lu A-gou and His Model Team”.
