Yanjia Qin is an Associate Professor at the School of Ethnology and Sociology at Yunnan University. He received his Ph.D. in historical anthropology from the Department of History, Sun Yat-sen University in 2012. His research interests are focused on historical anthropology, popular religion in South China, ethnic history in the southwest frontier of China, and South and Southeast Asian society and culture. His main published works include Ritual Tradition and Local Cultural Construction: A Historical Anthropology Study of Shanglin Shigong, Guangxi.  (In Chinese, Beijing: Social Sciences Literature Press, 2015). During his affiliation with HYI, he is working on a study of the writing and cognition of Indian society by modern Chinese intellectual elites.
