Zhai Shaodong is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She received her Ph.D. in Archaeology from the School of Historical land European Studies, La Trobe University, Australia. Her research focuses on the development of Social Complexity, urbanization in prehistoric China, and ground stone tool production research. She attended some excavations at Neolithic sites and directed an investigation on lithic production at a Neolithic Taosi site, Shanxi Province, China. Her major publications include Lithic Production and Early Urbanism in China, Production of Ground Stone Tools at Taosi and Huizui: a comparison, and A Preliminary Study on the Lithic Resource Utilization Mode of the Mount Dagudui site in Xiangfen County, Shanxi.
