Deng Fei is a professor of Chinese art and archaeology at the National Institute of Advanced Humanistic Studies, Fudan University. She completed her PhD at the University of Oxford in 2010 and has published extensively in the field of visual culture in Song and Yuan China. Her book Understanding Efficacy: A Study of Decorated Tombs in Northern Song China, 960–1127 was published by Wenwu Press in 2019. Her research interests include funerary art and visual culture of mid-imperial China, as well as cultural and artistic interactions in East Asia.
