HYI Director James Robson recently traveled to Thailand and Vietnam after initially visiting Singapore for a HYI co-sponsored conference on “India-China in the Long 1950s: Archives, Ideas, and Cultural Worlds.” In Thailand he visited Mahidol University in Bangkok and met with several HYI alumni in Chiang Mai, joined by Prof. Michael Herzfeld.
In Vietnam, Prof. Robson attended a HYI alumni dinner in Ho Chi Minh City, and paid a visit to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, one of HYI’s partner institutions for the Visiting Scholars Program and NUS-HYI Joint Doctoral Scholarship Program. His visit included a stop at USSH’s Museum and Library. The Library has a collection of books previously donated by Professor Paul Cohen, and will soon accept additional books from the late Professor Cohen’s collection. USSH is coordinating this donation project with HYI. A summary (in Vietnamese) of Prof. Robson’s visit to USSH is available on their website.
Please view the slideshow below for a few photos from the visits!
