Dr. Cheng Chung-yi is a professor in the Department of Philosophy and Director of the Research Center for Chinese Philosophy and Culture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research areas include Song-Ming Confucian philosophy, contemporary Neo-Confucian philosophy, the history of Chinese philosophy, and East-West comparative philosophy. He has published two books: The Transformation of Confucianism between the Ming and Qing Dynasty (2000, 2009 revised edition), and Confucianism, Philosophy and the Modern World (2010). Currently, Dr. Cheng is working on two books: an anthology entitled Reinventing Confucian Philosophy and a monograph entitled Issues and Development of Ming Confucian Philosophy.
