CHO Eunjoo received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Yonsei University in 2012. Her academic interests include social movements and contentious politics; comparative historical approach and methodological issues in the social sciences; modernity and nationalism in East Asia; and transformation of gender structure and capitalism. Her dissertation examined population control implemented by the state. With a focus on South Korea, she looked at how the bio-politics/power of a modern state was at work, analyzing the mechanism generating modern subjects and a nationalist governmentality.
