Guan-Fan TAN

Guan-Fan TAN is a Harvard Yenching Fellow in the Regional Studies–East Asia (RSEA) A.M. program at Harvard University. His research explores the intersections of Chinese diasporic communities, Southeast Asian art histories, and Buddhist material culture. His previous scholarship includes a study of Teochew temple arts published in Berita (2022), the official publication of the Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Studies Group. He has also served as a curatorial research assistant for the landmark exhibition “Sacred Caves: Dunhuang, Buddhism, and the Silk Road” at the Asian Civilisations Museum, Singapore.

​Complementing his academic and curatorial practice, Guan-Fan is an active visual artist who engages with Buddhist art forms and regional artistic traditions. He has exhibited across the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, LASALLE College of the Arts, and the National Library in Singapore.
