Rieko Kage is Associate Professor of political science at the University of Tokyo.  Her research focuses on civil society, participation, and comparative politics. She is the author of Civic Engagement in Postwar Japan: The Revival of a Defeated Society (Cambridge University Press, 2011).  Her publications have appeared in the British Journal of Political Science and Comparative Political Studies.  Between 2010-11, she served as Assistant Dean at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo.  She received her B.A. and M.A. from Kyoto University and her Ph.D. (Government) from Harvard University.
