Kewei Xu is an associate professor at the College of Humanities and Development Studies, China Agricultural University. He completed his Ph.D at Kansai University, Japan in 2017. His research field is Rangaku (蘭學) or Dutch studies in Tokugawa Japan, focusing on the history of lexical and cultural exchanges between China and Japan. His book Between Dutch Studies and Sinology: A Study of Kōsei Shimpen as Tokugawa Shogunate’s Translation Project (蘭學與漢學之間:江戶幕府翻譯事業《厚生新編》研究) was published by Tohoshoten in 2022.
