Seo Okja is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology at the Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies, Kyoto University, Japan. As a visiting fellow at the Harvard-Yenching Institute, she worked on her doctoral dissertation on emotional labor in relation to sex work, titled “Selling Sex, Selling Emotion: An Ethnography of U.S. Military Camptowns in South Korea”. Her research interests include women and militarism, gender and migration, and agency.
