Shubhda Gurung is an Institute of Chinese Studies-Harvard Yenching Institute (ICS-HYI) fellow. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Prior to this, she was a Yenching Scholar at the Yenching Academy of Peking University, Beijing, wherein she completed her Master’s degree in China Studies. She also holds an advance diploma in Chinese language from Beijing Language and Culture University, Beijing as a UNESCO – Great Wall Fellow. At HYI, she is conducting research on India and China cultural connections in Prof. Ji Xianlin’s works.

Translation from Chinese to English of the ‘Introduction’ ( ‘绪论’ ）of Zhongwai Wenxue Jiaoliushi: Zhong-Yin Juan《中外文学交流史：中-印卷 》written by Prof. Yu Longyu and Prof. Liu Chaohua and published by the Shandong Jiaoyu Chubanshe 山东教育出版社 Shandong Education Press in 2015. The English translation is titled China and India: Dialogue of Civilisations by Prof. B.R. Deepak, published by Pentagon Press LLP, New Delhi in 2021.
Translation from Chinese to English of the Chapter titled ‘Ji Xianlin’s Emotional World’ ( ‘季羡林的情感世界’ ) in the book titled Ji Xianlin Pingzhuan《季羡林评传》written by Prof. Yu Longyu and Prof. Liu Chaohua and published by Shandong Jiaoyu Chubanshe 山东教育出版社 Shandong Education Press in 2015. The English translation is titled Ji Xianlin: A Critical Biography by Prof. B.R. Deepak and published by Pentagon Press LLP, New Delhi in 2018.
