Junchao Tang is a Ph.D student of sociology at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. He received his B.A and M.A in Sociology from Fudan University, and M.A. in Regional Studies – East Asia Program from Harvard University. Junchao’s research interest lies in the intersection of stratification, political sociology, and inequality. His past research explored the patterns of educational inequality in China and investigated how the Chinese government responds to distributive demands from homogenous communities. During his Ph.D study, he plans to investigate how class consciousness arises through the life course, and how class dynamics contribute to the reproduction of inequality under authoritarianism using China as a case. A proud supporter for Real Madrid, Junchao enjoys watching La Liga and European Championship League. Discussion about anime or video games is also welcome, as long as he is not getting lost in sociological readings.
