Tiasangla is a currently an ICS-HYI (Institute of Chinese Studies – Harvard-Yenching Institute) fellow. She spent one year as a senior visiting fellow in the Institute of East-West cultural exchange at Central China Normal University, followed by one semester in the Department of Chinese History and Chinese Civilization, Fudan University, and another semester at the Institute of Medical Humanities, Peking University Health Science Centre. She wrote her M.Phil. dissertation on “Health Reforms in China and India” which was submitted at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, from where she is also pursuing her doctoral program. Her doctoral research is on “American Foundations in Public Health: Ascension of Soft Power & Free Markets in China and India.” In her thesis she is focusing on three American foundations (Rockefeller, Ford, and Bill & Melinda Gates) and looking at their involvement in the transformation and transition of biomedicine in 20th century China and India.
