Wu Cuncun is associate professor of traditional Chinese literature and cultural history in the School of Chinese, The University of Hong Kong. She received her PhD in Chinese Studies at The University of Melbourne in 2002. She has previously held posts as senior lecturer in the School of Arts, University of New England, Australia, and before that associate professor in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Nankai University, China. She has published widely in both Chinese and English on late imperial Chinese fiction as well as gender and sexuality in Chinese history. Her current research projects include “Pornography and Modernity in Late Ming China” and “Theatre Culture and Prostitution in Late Qing Beijing”.
