Zhou Lian is a Professor of the School of Philosophy at Renmin University, China. His research focuses on several topics of political philosophy, including political legitimacy, natural law and natural rights, and distributive justice. He is also interested in moral philosophy and the philosophy of language. He obtained his B.A. (1996) and M.A. (1999) in Philosophy from Peking University and his Ph.D. (2005) in Philosophy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was a visiting scholar at Oxford University from 2009 to 2010. He is the author of The Foundation of Modern Political Legitimacy (Beijing Sanlian Press-Harvard-Yenching Academic Series, 2008), You will never wake up a man pretending to sleep (China Renmin University Press, 2012), and The Possibilities of Justice (Wenshi Press, 2015). His current research project is “Private Property, Economical Liberties and Social Justice: the Debate in Contemporary Liberalism and its Reflection in China.”
