Phan Thi Huyen Trang

Trang Phan is a lecturer of linguistics at Vietnam National University, Hanoi from which she received her BA degree (honors) in 2007. She obtained her PhD from University of Sheffield (England) in 2013 on the syntax, semantics and acquisition of Vietnamese verbal aspect. Subsequently, she worked at Ghent University (Belgium) from 2014 to 2016 as a postdoc researcher on various aspects of Vietnamese clause structure in a cross-linguistic perspective including the position of Vietnamese with respect to the NP/DP parameter, the prodrop parameter, and the topic-prominent/subject-prominent parameter. After returning to Vietnam, Trang has worked hard to earn the opportunities to organize workshops and conferences in order to create a common forum for local and international linguists to exchange their insights and methodology. She is the co-editor of the volume Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Vietnamese Linguistics published by John Benjamins in 2019. She is the principal investigator of the governmental project on the nanosyntax of Vietnamese tense and aspect funded by Vietnam National Foundation for Science & Technology Development (NAFOSTED), grant number 602.02-2018.300. At Harvard University, she pursues research on Vietnamese nominal structure in comparison to different dialects of Chinese.
