Tamaruya Masayuki is a Professor of Law at Rikkyo University, where he teaches comparative law with emphasis on English and American Law. His research area is legal history, and he is currently interested in how the law of trusts, which took shape in England by the eighteenth century, was diffused through the British colonies and the United States during the following centuries, transforming itself along the way, and how it influenced and continues to influence the legal systems in East Asia. He received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Tokyo, Master of Laws from New York University, and Diploma in Legal Studies from Cambridge University.
