Intersectionality: Gender, Ethnicity, and Space in China

On December 8, 2025, the School of Sociology and Anthropology at Xiamen University hosted a workshop titled “Intersectionality: Gender, Ethnicity, and Space in China.” The workshop was organized by Professor Yanhua Deng, Dean of the School, and Professor Miaoyan Yang, both of whom are alumni of the Harvard-Yenching Institute. Participants were primarily Harvard-Yenching alumni, along with several early-career scholars in related fields from China. The workshop aimed to strengthen connections among Harvard-Yenching affiliates, foster a sense of alumni community, and support participants’ professional development.
