For his book “Neither Donkey nor Horse: Medicine in the Struggle Over China's Modernity”

The Harvard-Yenching Institute congratulates former HYI Visiting Scholar Sean Hsiang-lin Lei for receiving the 2016 William H. Welch Medal from the American Association for the History of Medicine for his book, Neither Donkey nor Horse: Medicine in the Struggle over China’s Modernity (University of Chicago Press, 2014).

Dr. Lei is Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, and Associate Professor at the Institute of Science, Technology, and Society (STS) at Yang-ming University. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard-Yenching Institute from 2004-2005.
