Cherry HITKARI
चेरी हितकारी/李雯樱

Cherry Hitkari is a PhD candidate in Chinese Studies at the Department of East Asian Studies, University of Delhi, India, where she also earned her MA in East Asian Studies in 2022. She holds a BA (Hons.) in History (2020) from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi.

​Her research explores the development of cultural governance and socialist culture in China, with a particular focus on the theoretical evolution of political communication in audio-visual media.

Cherry has been the recipient of best paper awards at the 15th All India Conference of China Studies (2022), the Network for Advanced Study of China Fellowship Conference (2024), and the 2nd All India Conference of East Asian Studies (2024); in addition to the Thelma Mercia Memorial Scholarship (2019) and the Vishalakshi Menon Award (2020) for academic excellence as an undergraduate student of history.
